Königssee Biking

"Kühroint" - Panorama Tour

You start at the visitor's center in Schönau am Königssee. Follow the main street in direction to Oberschönau. After the fire department (Autohaus Renault) keep left hand side until Hotel Bärenstüberl, below the hotel follow the "Hammerstielstrasse" to the parking lot. Behind the parking lot starts a path which leads you via the Schapbach (an old alpine pasture) to "Kühroint", the finish of our tour where you find a nice alpine hut which will welcome you with a cold drink. An alternative route is the start at the parking lot "Wimbachbrücke" (at the B305 Berchtesgaden - Ramsau) . This way leads also to "Schapbach" and further to the "Kührointalm".


Schönau a. Königssee Biking

"Gotzenalm" - Panorama Tour

You start at the visitor's centre in Schönau am Königssee and follow the foot- and bikepath to Königssee along the river "Königsseer Ache". After the fish-farm (it's worth a visit) go left hand side back to the main street. Cross and follow the Richard-Voß-Strasse. Pay attention - don't miss the corner where the Hochbahnstrasse bends. You come to the "Hochbahn", a path which leads you to the Königsbachalm (alpine pasture). Here you take the road right hand side and follow. This road leads via some alpine pastures (Gotzentalalm, Seeau) and two steep climbs to the "Gotzenalm". At the finish you find a nice alpine hut and on the Feuerpalven you can enjoy a marvellous panorama .

Königssee Biking

"Salzburg" - Bike and Culture

An Excursion for everyone who wants to combine sport activities and culture.

We start at the visitor`s centre of Berchtesgaden and leave the valleynext to the river “Berchtesgadener Ache” where we drive on idyllic farmer-paths and short distances next to the main street. 

Visiting the “Kugelmühle” and the “Almbachklamm” would be a good idea.

After the border we take the old salt- tradingroute (Salzhandelsweg) to Hallein and Rif zur Salzach.

Leisurely we cycle next to the green river into the town-centre of Salzburg . In Salzburg we will park our bikes and explore the town by foot.When we go through the old town we visit the “Getreidegasse”, pass Mozarts house of birth and enjoy Austrian coffee specialities in one of the many coffee houses. Who got curious about visiting Salzburg can get a city-guide in the tourist-information for his own exploration tour. When we drive back we visit the Nonntal an old avenue to castle Hellbrunn where we visit the great gardens and the nice animal park. After a break in Anif at the “Heurigenlokal” we cycle from “St. Leonhard” to “Markt Schellenberg” and back to Berchtesgaden.

Don’t forget to lock your bikes at the cultural stops and breaks.

 


Schönau a. Königssee Biking

"Around Mount Untersberg" - A Family Tour

1. km 0:From the visitor`s centre ( Kurdirektion, Königsseerstrasse 2, Berchtesgaden) we cycle over the bridge to the station. There we turn right to the road “Bahnhofstrasse” which leads us up to the centre of Berchtesgaden. We follow the road until we are on the road “Maximilianstrasse” and cycle always straight ahead.

2. km 2:After the bike path at the end of Berchtesgaden we cycle through Stangass to Bischofswiesen. Follow the signs “Rund um den Untersberg”!

3. m 5,1:At the crossroads “Umgehungsstrasse” we turn right on the main street through Bischofswiesen. At the middle of the village only follow the bike path along the B20 in direction to Winkl.

4. km 9,9:Before we pass the level crossing after the shopping centre “Panorama Park” change to the left side of the road and follow the bike path through the woods, until we get back along the main street.

5. km 11,3: We change onto the main street and after 600 m we turn right.

6. km 12:From the main street we turn right to the “Holzstubenweg” (a sandy road) where we go straight on along the woods to “Pass Hallthurm”

7. km 14,2:At “Pass Hallturm” we cross the parking lot, after we drive down on a sandy road through the woods to Bayrisch Gmain

8. km 16,9:In front of the village after the inn (Gasthof Dreisesselberg) we turn right and cycle through a little settlement (always follow the asphalt road) to the Austrian border.

9. km 18,0:At the old border to Salzburg we drive right to Großgmain. Now always follow the main street through the village Großgmain. At the end of the village drive onto the bike path (Tauernradweg) on the right side of the main street. Follow this road until it ends and change for a short time onto the main street.

10. km 22,3:We turn right onto the road to Grödig. Now the only harder gradient follows.

11. km 24,1:In a big bend to the left, on the right side we will find the inn “Gasthof Latschenwirt”. After that we follow the bendy road through the wood.

12. km 29,1:At the sign “Fürstenbrunn” we still follow the road which now tends to get bigger.

13. km 30,4:Turn right onto the bike leading you past a riding school and an avenue. When the road ends change onto the main street which leads you to Grödig.

14. km 33,7: At the crossroads we turn left to pass Grödig and Gartenau.

15. km 35,6:At the main street opposite to the inn (Gasthof Schorn, on the right side: Untersberg cable railway) we turn right. Always follow the main street to Marktschellenberg. Pass the old border to Bavaria and stay on the main-road (B 305).

16. km 39,9: Before you reach Marktschellenberg turn right onto the road “Salzburgerstrasse”. Now you go over the bridge for a short distance next to the main street.

17. km 40,0:Turn right over the bridge onto the road “Alte Berchtesgadener Strasse”. This road leads you on the right side along the river (Marktschellenberger Ache) passing the swimming baths until you reach the “Kugelmühle”.

18. km 43,3:From the parkinglot in front of the inn “Gasthof Kugelmühle” we follow the signs “Salzhandelsweg” and “Rund um den Untersberg”. Again we are on a sandy road next to the river. Driving through a settlement called Gartenau we always follow the signs.

19. km 45,8:After crossing a little bridge we turn right and follow the main street.

20. km 46,3:We go under the bridge changing to the left side of the main street. Here we have a nice bike path next to the river passing fields and woods straight to Berchtesgaden.

21. km 48,1:Along the “Königsallee” we reach the red cross of Berchesgaden where we turn left and take the road to the saltmines (Salzbergwerk).

22. km 48,3:Passing the “Salzbergwerk” we reach the “Watzmanntherme”

23. km 48,9:Behind the “Watzmanntherme” we turn left onto the road “An der Schießstätte” passing the ice hall.We take the road under the bridge to stay next to the river. We reach a settlement and pass the cinema “Schwabenkino” to get back to the visitor`s centre “Kurdirektion Berchtesgaden”.
