For over 150 years the Berchtesgaden Alps have been a destination for
adventure-loving geologists and mountaineers. The Watzmann's east face, the
highest sheer cliff in the Eastern Alps was first scaled in 1881. Since then, it
has already claimed close to one hundred lives! Other climbing routes in the
Berchtesgaden Alps have bettter reputations and are popular for both beginners
