Again the Almbach ravine
is absolutly unhindered accessable in both directions now - to and from Ettenberg and to and from
Maria Gern. Apart from the section Theresienklause across Dunkelgraben to
the confluence of the walkable trail from bridge no. 25 towards
Winkllehen/Ettenberg for the time being.
At the entrance of the Almbach ravine you detect Germany's eldest marmoreal-bowl-mill. Since 1683 rough marmoreal chunks are grinded to noble bowls by waterpower here. Hiking through the Almbach ravine, which is of a distance of 3 kilometers, should be scheduled by you at all events. With its waterfalls it belongs to the most beautiful and the few preserved, wild-romatic gorges of the Bavarian Alps. A well secured rise is leading you over bridges, stairs and tunnels through the impressing gorge. Under your feet the clear as crystal water falls over cascades down to the valley. Past an altitude difference of about a 200 meters the upper section of the ravine boardens into a rolling valley. Follow the signage to the pilgrimage chapel of Ettenberg. Gaze the gorgeous frescos in the pictorially seated tiny chapel and enjoy your deserved rest at tavern "Meßnerwirt" alike next-door. A steep hiking trail with lovely viewpoints leads you back to the bowl-mill. Hiking time is about two hours.
