The exhibition Obersalzberg is a permanent one of the institute for
contemporary history (Munich - Berlin) on the Mt. Obersalzberg seated near of
Berchtesgaden. It was commissioned by the state Bavaria and opened it
doors on the 20th of October 1999. The exhibition shows the history of
Obersalzberg and connects the history of the place with a demonstration of the
central manifestation of national socialist dictatorship. More
than 900 photos, documents, posters, movies and recordings that
partially had been made accessable to public for the first time
are shown in this exhibition. The exhibiton Obersalzberg deals with the following
subjects: - Mt. Obersalzberg - the actors of the regime - myth
and cult of leadership - the national community - machinery of terror - racial politics, persecution of jews and genocide -
resistance and emigration - Hitler's foreign policy - World War II -
