The Spa Tax
The entire Berchtesgadener Land (Berchtesgaden, Bischofswiesen, Marktschellenberg, Ramsau, Schönau a. Königssee) has been awarded the designation of "climatically healing spa region" and is therefore an official member of the German Bathing Spa Association.
It meets all the requirements expected of a healing or curative spa region. For this reason, it is also obligated to levy an Kurbeitrag, or "cure tax", for the numerous services and facilities that it offers its guests, ranging from free use of public transport by bus, Kurkonzerte "cure concerts" to exercising "cure" trails. The daily "cure" or spa tax is:

Children up to their seventh birthday do not pay the spa tax. The renter is to give the guest a Kurkarte, or "spa card". This gives the guest a number of discounts and advantages throughout the Berchtesgadener Land and should be handed to the guest shortly after check-in.
