Schönau am Königssee

Name: Schönau a. Königssee, administrative district Berchtesgadener Country, administrative region Upper Bavaria.

Relevance: largest tourism community of the Berchtesgadender country with about 8000 beds for guests in 20 hotels, 16 guesthouses, 118 boarding houses and 578 private accomodations (holiday flats and rooms). And the opportunity to spend your holiday on 25 farms.

Area: 135,9 km², thereof 115 km² in the national park

Location: most south-eastern community of Germany, localised in the west by the valley of Ramsau and open in the north towards the market of Berchtesgaden. But in the east and south the mighty mountain massifs of the "Hohen Göll", the "Hagenmountains" and the "Stony Sea" build up like a stony wall - the commen frontier to the neighbouring Salzburger country. Facilities for guests: the house of guests with band-stand, reading room, lending library, tourist office and event hall. Heated open-air bath, one "Kleingradierwerk" with a homelike brine from the salt mine Berchtesgaden, a water cure at the "Gradierwerk", two additional water cures in Unterstein resp. Oberschönau, 60km of hiking trails (altogether 240km in the very Berchtesgadener area) - guided tours.

In Winter: 24 km of cross-country ski-tracks, artifical-iced bobsled-and-luge-track Königssee (also skeleton) with events for guests - natural luge track Schapachalm - curling - 3 ropeways (Jenner, Mitterkaser, Jennerwiesen with the latest artifical-snow-system), ski-lifts (for all classes) 3 ski schools, convivial homelike evenings.
